Die Sektion B der Welsh Ponys wurde 1931 geschaffen, um ein etwas größeres Ponymaß zu erschaffen. Dazu wurden ein Sohn des Berbers Sahara und ein Sohn des Arabers King Cyrus zur Zucht zugelassen.
