We are proud to offer a gelding that is more like family than just a horse. We have had the pleasure of owning Cyrus since he was a yearling and we are so excited to show you just how special he is. Cyrus is a 6-year-old registered AQHA gelding that stands 16h and weighs 1300 lbs. His fun personality is just as big as he is! Over the years of owning and training Cyrus, we have taken him on many trail rides throughout Missouri and used him in the Colorado Rocky Mountains to pack elk and goods to dry camp. He is a very versatile gelding that has seen and experienced a little bit of everything! A large portion of Cyrus' training was spent with a reining trainer, where he received a phenomenal foundation. Don't let his size fool you, his athletic ability is astounding! His trainer continuously commented on how impressively Cyrus handled himself when doing reining maneuvers.
Cyrus is sired by Yes Eye Can, who has AQHA points in heading and heeling. Cyrus' dam was shown and has earnings in reining. He is HPI eligible! We have used Cyrus to gather and sort cow/calf pairs, he has worked gates and is used to roaring 4 wheelers and ATVs. We have even shot pistols off of him! Cyrus learns quickly, and after being exposed to anything once, he picks it up like he has done it for years. We have overnight camped with him many times, from trail rides to hunting trips. Cyrus is hobble broke and has no hesitation when packing out your trophy bull elk. He willingly crosses rivers and will take you through deep currents without any coaxing. Cyrus has already had a lifetime of experiences and has built a solid foundation because of it. No matter what you want to do with him, he has the versatile talent to compete in it all, he is truly an all-around type of gelding. Whether you prefer English riding, mounted shooting, team roping, barrel racing, reining, ranch horse versatility, trail riding, or just a family horse...Cyrus has the ability to do it all.
Cyrus has all of the eye appeal and talent for the show pen. He has a correct turn around with all of the speed you could ask for. He picks up his leads correctly and on cue, has a nice departure, a smooth flying lead change, and lopes pretty circles. He has a beautiful extended trot, a nice stop, and will even side pass to the mounting block (or anything you need to use to mount him from). He collects, riding on a loose rein, responding to your seat and leg. Cyrus is soft in the bridle and body. He has excellent body control, moving his hips or shoulders when cued. Cyrus is the type of horse that will speed up if asked but will also be slow and quiet when asked. He is an honest gelding who truly aims to please.
Cyrus is in your pocket and will be your best friend; he is respectful and has the ground manners of a gentleman. He absolutely loves people and attention. Our granddaughter loves to sit on Cyrus and spoil him with affection; and we know that she is safe with him. He has been ridden by intermediate children and intermediate to advanced adults. It can easily be said that Cyrus steals everyone's hearts, as he is so easy to love and enjoy. He is traffic safe, used to all of the commotion at campgrounds, and has even been ridden through the town square as vehicles and pedestrians passed by. He is also used to being around children of all sizes, small and large pets, wildlife, poultry, and livestock (even a pet pig!). He loads and hauls well, even when traveling hundreds of miles. Cyrus stands tied and ground ties to be groomed and tacked up. He lowers his head to be haltered and bridled, making things so easy no matter how short or tall his rider is. He is a gentleman for the farrier and veterinarian. Cyrus does wonderful whether he is stalled or turned out. He is happy by himself, or with pasture mates and gets along well with everyone. He is easy to catch and will always be the one to meet you at the gate; he is truly one of the most personable horses we have ever had the privilege to be around.
Cyrus will come with a current Coggins, Pre-Purchase Exam and a Certified Veterinary Inspection. He is current on his deworming schedule and current with the farrier.
