Some horses are just easier to talk about than others and Waylon could have a book written about him. Standing 15.1, with a beautiful grulla coat, and just 7 years old he gets noticed everywhere we take him.
Waylon has spent many days blazing across the mountains and through the rivers of Tennessee. He is a trooper on overnight camping trips, standing on a high line or in temporary fence, he does great with both. Waylon doesn’t find anything to spook at and doesn’t look around for anything, he is always level headed and easy. He will cross any body of water, up and down any incline, and across the logs. You can enjoy your time out alone, or in a group setting without any problems. Waylon is the horse we put family members on that come to visit once or twice a year, he doesn’t require an experienced rider to enjoy him.
If trail riding isn’t your cup of tea and you spend your days in the arena, Waylon is the perfect partner to take you to the next level. With a beautiful, easy user friendly handle, he has all of the buttons to succeed in any aspect in the arena. He has a soft easy jog that will extend to a beautiful long trot, or move into a slow lope or canter. Waylon catches his leads both directions from a stand still, a walk, or a trot. He has an easy flying lead change from both directions. Ready for a stop? Just sit and say whoa, he will listen!
Waylon has completed a jumping course, with me, a very inexperienced hunter, but we had so much fun! He was previously shown in short stirrups with a 9 year old little girl!
Ranch classes and trail competitions are a breeze for him! Waylon side passes to gates, crosses the teeter-totter, and backs through the Ls. He is very patient, slow and easy for these courses!
Waylon is no stranger to a hard days work on the farm. We run 40 head of Brahma's who are currently calving and he has been my go to guy to go check on the girls. I have roped and doctored quite a few on him, he has placed me right where I need to be and always been a big help. I’ve gotten him into situations that most wouldn’t have handled! Aside from my wild cow catching in the pasture Waylon is experienced in the box on the head and heel side. He is level headed and waits as long as you need, he would be an excellent teacher for someone wanting to get started!
Waylon is truly a horse that is useful anywhere you put him. It has been an absolute pleasure owning him, we will sure miss him around the farm!
