Banner is as enjoyable to ride as he is dependable. He has a big, ground-covering walk, a smooth, balanced lope, a deep stop, side passes with ease, and neck reins one-handed. He is responsive, soft in the bridle, and always willing to please. Whether you’re saddling up for a full day’s work or hopping on bareback in a halter for an evening ride, Banner is the same trustworthy horse every time. He is also exceptionally handy on the ground—easy to catch, bathe, trailer, saddle, and bridle. He stands quietly and patiently for whatever you ask, and he’ll even pick you up from a mounting block or fence, making getting on and off simple and safe.
His versatility extends well beyond the ranch. Banner carried the kids in the Kiddie Parade during the Cody Stampede, earning Best Horse honors. The following two days, he served as an outrider horse in the Cody parades, confidently weaving through marching bands, fire trucks, tractors, floats, and thousands of spectators with the same calm demeanor he displays on the trail.
In the mountains, Banner is the horse everyone wants to ride. He’ll confidently lead, follow, ride in the middle, or head out alone. He crosses bridges, rivers, downfall, bogs, steep terrain, and deadfall with ease. He’s comfortable around cattle and dogs, has seen the wildlife of Yellowstone, and has spent his life in grizzly country. Nothing seems to rattle him.
